These guidelines help keep Rent & Barter fair, local, and safe. Violations may lead to listing removal or account suspension.
Be honest
Describe offers accurately, including condition, timing, and location. Don’t bait-and-switch after accepting a bid.
Be respectful
No harassment, hate, or threats in listings, bids, or messages. Counter offers should stay about the trade, not personal attacks.
Stay legal
No illegal goods/services, regulated items without required licensing, stolen property, or scams. When in doubt, don’t post.
Bidding norms
- Public bids are competitive and visible — keep them constructive.
- Private bids are for serious, discreet offers; the fee is non-refundable.
- Don’t spam low-effort bids across many listings.
Reporting
Use Report listing on a listing page for spam, scams, or abuse. Our team reviews open reports from the admin queue. False reports may also be limited.
