This policy describes how Rent & Barter handles personal information when you use the marketplace.
What we collect
- Account data: name, email, password hash, optional location and bio
- Marketplace activity: listings, bids, messages, trades, reviews
- Payment data: handled by Stripe; we store payment references, not full card numbers
- Technical logs: IP/user-agent may appear in host logs for security
How we use it
To operate the service, process private bid fees, send transactional notifications (in-app and optional email), prevent abuse, and improve reliability. We do not sell your personal information.
Sharing
Other users see profile and listing information you publish. Public bids are visible marketplace-wide. Private bids are visible only to the listing poster (and you as bidder). Processors such as Stripe, email (e.g. Resend), and hosting providers process data on our behalf.
Retention
We retain account and transaction records as needed to run the service and meet legal obligations. You may request account closure subject to outstanding trades or investigations.
Your choices
Update profile data in settings. Report content from listing pages. Contact us for access or deletion requests where required by applicable privacy law.
